About Barbara
Barbara Bender has been a South Gwinnett area resident for over 30 years. Barbara settled in Snellville in 1985 after marrying her husband Greg, who graduated from South Gwinnett High School. Barbara and Greg have resided in the Summit Chase Community for the past 14 years where they are raising their two children, Nick and Katie.
Barbara graduated from Parkview High School and Georgia State University where she earned a BBA in accounting. She began her professional career as a certified public accountant in 1988. Currently, Barbara is the Vice President of Hamilton Financial, CPAs and Financial Services, located on Scenic Highway, where she has worked for 20 years.
Barbara thoroughly enjoys working in the same city in which she lives, which is evident through her involvement and continuous presence throughout the Snellville community.
Also civically driven, Barbara has served as President of the former Snellville Merchant’s Association and now serves as Treasurer for the Snellville Commerce Club. Barbara is passionately committed to Snellville and her desire to enrich an already great city.
With her leadership skills and professional disposition, Barbara intends to work diligently toward encouraging a stronger, unified council that works together for the benefit of the city. Barbara strongly believes that a comprehensive city government that serves the citizens and resident businesses, can positively impact the welfare of the entire Snellville community.
Like many Snellville residents, Barbara has witnessed the impact of growth, positive and negative. Barbara intends to dig her heels in deeper and work toward an ever greater Snellville through public service.

- GMA Representative to Planning Advisory Committee, Gwinnett County 2030 Unified Plan. The Gwinnett Plan was recently awarded the Georgia Planning Association’s 2009 award for “Outstanding Planning Document for a Large Community.”
